Electrodes for welding steel. The electrode's special coating provides a high purification capacity of the base material, resulting in high-quality welds with considerable mechanical strength. Furthermore, these electrodes do not contaminate the weld pool with hydrogen. The presence of fluorite in the coating makes the arc less stable and the weld pool less fluid; the arc must therefore be kept very short due to the coating's low volatility, requiring considerable welder experience. The slag produced is hard and difficult to remove, and must be completely removed for rework. These electrodes are suitable for vertical, overhead, and vertical welds and must be welded with reverse polarity direct current (positive in the electrode holder).
