LITHIUM BATTERIES FOR POWER TOOLS: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW WITH DINAMITEK

Lithium Batteries - Everything You Need to Know, with Dinamitek

Battery-powered products have many advantages.
Here's a quick guide on how to best store lithium batteries.

Battery-powered tools are very convenient and easy to handle. Without a cord, you can reach anywhere and complete your work with complete freedom. Lithium batteries guarantee power and longevity.

For tools or garden equipment , choosing a lithium battery-powered product only brings advantages. Have you tried one yet?
Compared to the previous generation of nickel-cadmium (NiCd or NiMH) batteries, lithium batteries are lighter and offer better performance, offering one of the best power-to-weight ratios on the market.

Lithium batteries do not suffer from the memory effect, meaning they do not drastically lose their charge capacity when repeatedly partially recharged (without waiting for complete discharge). In fact, this is a recommended procedure.
Lithium batteries, however, slowly lose charge (absolutely negligible, about 1% per month) when not in use.

Here is a little guide, everything you need to know about lithium batteries and how to make them last longer.

-       On the first charge, perform a full charge cycle and allow the battery time to fully charge. These new batteries suffer a bit from charging when the battery is completely discharged!

-       For the first 5-10 charging cycles, follow the instructions above. The battery is now less vulnerable and can withstand charges starting from a completely flat battery or typical overcharges.

-       Don't stress the battery by letting it completely discharge; recharge it frequently and partially. The internal resistance is very low, so little heat is produced during charging, and the charging process is very energy efficient.

-       Perform a full charge cycle every 30 charge/discharge cycles and use it immediately (it is not a good practice to leave a 100% charged lithium battery unused)

-       Never leave the battery in a hot place and unplug the charger when it is fully charged.

-       Store the battery you are not using in a cool place (preferably in a refrigerator), disconnected from the device and with a charge of approximately 40%; before using it, leave it at room temperature for 24 hours.

-       Remember to clean the contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol to maximize the efficiency of energy transfer.

How do you choose the right battery for your power tool?

Identify the voltage of your power tool and search for the corresponding battery in the manufacturer's range. This ensures product compatibility. Then, choose the battery capacity. This choice will determine the performance of your power tool, as the maximum continuous power that can be drawn from the battery depends on its capacity, expressed in Ah .
