DINAMITEK PRESENTS THE GUIDE ON CHOOSING THE FACE RESPIRATOR SPECIFIC TO THE FIELD OF APPLICATION
Dinamitek presents the guide to choosing the right facepiece respirator for every field of application
Everything you need to know to choose respiratory protection, with Dinamitek
Respiratory protection is a very important aspect of a worker's life. Anyone carrying out work activities that involve exposure to gases, vapors, and particles must be fully aware of the risks involved and know how to protect themselves adequately .
Take me to the PPE range - Respiratory Protection
3M facepiece respirators cover a wide range of situations in which, if used correctly, they provide perfect worker protection .
The worker is responsible for using the right respirator model for the situation and choosing the right size . The shape of 3M masks allows them to adapt perfectly to the shape of any face , for maximum comfort during use. Furthermore, 3M respirators are made of hypoallergenic materials, which do not irritate the skin even after prolonged use.
The 3M respiratory protection system is composed of: FACE RESPIRATOR, FILTER, PREFILTER, RING
Assembling a 3M mask is really simple, thanks to the bayonet connection . This also means that all 3M filters can be connected to the respirator, regardless of the model used.
THE FACE RESPIRATOR , the complete range
The 3M respiratory protection system is composed of:
- 4000 Series Maintenance-Free Half-Mask Respirators
- 6000 series low maintenance half-mask and full-face respirators
- 7000 series half-mask and full-face respirators
- Series 4000 half-mask respirators, activated carbon masks for protection against gases, vapors, and particulates. The tolerated contaminant concentration is up to 10xTLV or 1000 to 5000 ppm; for dust, the concentration is 10xTLV to 30xTLV.
The 3M Respiratory Protection System
- passed the dolomite dust test marking D
- comfortable thanks to the integrated structure
The fields of application in which the use of the 4000 series facepiece respirator is recommended are:
- spray painting,
- galvanic baths,
- working with solvents and resins,
- maintenance.
The 4000 mask has a valve , and can be used in conjunction with pre-filters for greater protection.
6000 and 7000 series half-mask respirators
Masks for heavy-duty working conditions characterised by the two-filter structure which increases the filtering surface and consequently the level of protection.
They are to be used in combination with the 6000 series filters for gases and vapours and with the 2000 series filters for dusts.
- Mask with filter series 6000 contaminant concentration level up to 10xTLV
- Mask with filter series 2000 filter P1 contaminant concentration level up to 4xTLV
- Mask with filter series 2000 filter P2 contaminant concentration level up to 10xTLV
- Mask with filter series 2000 P3 filter contaminant concentration level up to 30xTLV
6000 and 7000 Series Full Facepiece Respirators
The 6000 series belongs to protection class I, the 7000 series to protection class II.
They are to be used in combination with the 6000 series filters for gases and vapours and with the 2000 series filters for dust .
The various combinations offer different levels of protection, the scheme is the same as the 6000 and 7000 series half-mask respirators

FILTER for DUST, FUMES AND MISTS series 6000
Filters deserve special attention: they are the ones that take care of your protection, it is up to you to check that they are in good condition before starting the work session and to perform any maintenance operations required on the mask and filters.
The range includes filters with protection class P2 and P3 . You can choose the filter for dust only, or for dust , organic vapours and acid gases in concentrations lower than the TLV. The activated carbon filters are suitable for protecting against low concentrations of organic and acid gases and vapours .
- In combination with the half mask the P2 filter the concentration level of the contaminant up to 10xTLV
- In combination with the half mask the P3 filter the concentration level of the contaminant up to 30xTLV
- In combination with the full face mask, the P2 filter has a contaminant concentration level of up to 16xTLV
- In combination with the full face mask, the P3 filter has a contaminant concentration level of up to 200xTLV
PREFILTER
To use it, you need the ring nut, a support that attaches the prefilter to the filter . The assembly diagram is very simple:
half mask, filter with bayonet connection, pre-filter, ring that attaches it.
The pre-filters are to be used in combination with the 6000 series filters for DUSTS, FUMES AND MISTS and with the 6000 series filters for GASES AND VAPOURS
- In combination with the half mask the P1 filter the concentration level of the contaminant up to 4xTLV
- In combination with the half mask the P2 filter the concentration level of the contaminant up to 10xTLV
- In combination with the half mask the P3 filter the concentration level of the contaminant up to 30xTLV
- In combination with the full face mask, the P1 filter allows a contaminant concentration level of up to 4xTLV
- In combination with the full face mask, the P2 filter has a contaminant concentration level of up to 16xTLV
- In combination with the full face mask, the P3 filter has a contaminant concentration level of up to 200xTLV

FILTER for GAS AND VAPORS 6000 series
The series offers filters to protect against the following conditions:
- A1 organic vapors and formaldehyde
- K1 ammonia – methylamine
- A2 organic gases and vapors
- ABE1 organic, inorganic vapours and acid gases
- ABEK1 organic vapors and gases – inorganic vapors, acid gases, and ammonia-methylamine
- HgP3 mercury and dust
- AXP3 organic vapours with a boiling point below 65 degrees Celsius and dusts for full face masks
- ABEK2P3 organic vapors and gases – inorganic vapors, acid gases, and ammonia-methylamine and dust for full face masks
- In combination with the half mask, the 6000 series filter counteracts the concentration level of the contaminant up to 10xTLV or 1000 PPM considering the lower value for class 1 filters as the limit.
- In combination with the half mask, the 6000 series filter counteracts the concentration level of the contaminant up to 10xTLV or 5000 PPM considering the lower value for class 2 filters as the limit.
- In combination with the full face filter, the 6000 series filter counteracts the concentration level of the contaminant up to 2000xTLV or 1000 PPM considering as the limit the lower value for class 1 filters.
- In combination with the full face filter, the 6000 series filter counteracts the concentration level of the contaminant up to 2000xTLV or 5000 PPM considering as the limit the lower value for class 2 filters.
For the various fields of application, adopt the right protection system, using this scheme
- For pickling where you come into contact with organic solvents and dichloromethane, the suitable protection class is AX, if the pickling agent is ammonia-based use an ABEK filter
- For welding, two distinctions are made: PUR layering and for alloy steel use the filter with ABEP3 protection, while when working with a welding temperature above 1000 degrees Celsius you must use a compressed air system.
- For painting if you use solvent-based paints and for antifouling paints the filter to use is A2, for water-based paints with solvent residues A1
- For spray painting with solvent-based paints and synthetic resins or if there is the presence of organic or evading pesticides, the suitable filter is A2P2, for brush painting use an A1 filter
- For gluing, if the glues contain solvents, use the A1 filter
- If you come into contact with sulfur dioxide, hydrochloric acid, and muriatic acid, use the ABE filter. If you come into contact with organic waste and ammonia, use the ABEK filter.
- For cleaning with solvent petrol and nitrodilutions the suitable filter is A2, for the storage and transport of dangerous goods the filter to use is ABEKP3
