Choosing the jib crane for load handling with Dinamitek

Among industrial handling systems, the JIB CRANE is an economical solution, very practical to use and simple to install.

For lifting and moving materials, if you have circular workspaces, the perfect solution is a JIB CRANE . The jib rotates from 180 to 360 degrees. Installation requires sufficient space to maneuver. For workspaces with unusual dimensions or specific space constraints, a custom-built solution is available.

The jib crane can be installed on its own column or on a bracket (also called a wall crane), anchored to a column of the shed.
The choice of the length of the jib crane's outreach and capacity will determine the type of work possible.
Obviously, it is advisable to carry out the appropriate technical checks before installing the crane.

To handle the material, you must equip your jib crane with a hoist. A chain hoist is ideal for smaller loads, while a wire rope hoist is preferred for larger loads. You will need to install a crane for load handling at each individual station. An overhead crane can be used to move loads between stations.

Jib cranes are classified according to the type of base/fixing and by the type of arm.

For fixing we have 2 possible configurations:

• BRACKET CRANE for installation on a pillar at the workplace. The boom has a wide rotation range.
• COLUMN-MOUNTED CRANE: The column, jib, and foundation will be supplied. The standard rotation is 270 degrees.

There are different configurations for the arm type:

• ARM IN CHANNEL
• ARTICULATED ARM
• REMOVABLE ARM
• BEAM ARM WITH TIE ROD
• CANTILEVER ARM
• ARM WITH 360° ROTATION

How are JIB CRANES installed?

The COLUMN CRANES are fixed to the floor using two distinct techniques:

1. foundation frame drowned in a concrete plinth: an excavation is made for the pouring of the reinforced concrete
2. plate at the base of the column of the larger type for chemical anchors: fixing holes are drilled in the foundation plate where the chemical anchors are anchored.

The BRACKET CRANE is attached to the shed pillar. In this case, too, there are two options:

1. With brackets and counter-brackets: using a procedure called cravatting, the column is completely wrapped with threaded rods, counter-brackets, and nuts; this installation is suitable for reinforced concrete pillars and iron columns, and can also be used on load-bearing walls;
2. with fixing via chemical anchors, only suitable for installation on reinforced concrete columns.

How do JIB CRANES work?

The operating principle of the JIB CRANE is really simple:
- a rotating arm is fixed to a pin of the steel column or, with a specific bracket, is anchored to a concrete pillar on the production site. If necessary , it can also be anchored to a beam.
- The arm rotates 270 degrees. Upon request, rotation up to 300 or 360 degrees is possible, or it can be reduced by adding limit switches. Rotation occurs thanks to ball bearings . Rotation can be done manually or motorized (with the exception of the crane with a channel arm, which only allows manual rotation).

What are the differences between the types of JIB CRANE arms?

- CRANE IN CHANNEL .
It is a simple and economical model. The hoist is highly smooth. It is suitable for manual handling of all materials.
The hoist trolley slides inside the beam profile. Load movement is very precise. Trolley movement is manual only with the tie-rod version.

- BEAM CRANE WITH TIE ROD
The crane arm is very light and the rotation is smooth.
In a beam crane, the trolley slides along the beam. Power (translation) can be electrical, not just manual. A motorized trolley can be installed if required. This solution allows for the movement of loads with high capacity .

- CANTILEVER CRANE
This solution is similar to the tie rod solution, but with the advantage of maximizing the hook travel (hook-to-floor distance). This optimizes the lifting height .
It is possible to request a version with a motorized arm for assisted rotation.

- CRANE WITH ARTICULATED ARM
Solution to be requested when there are obstacles in the work area.

- CRANE WITH EXTENDABLE BOOM
If you have limited workspaces . It can be ordered with manual or electric second arm translation, with electric or manual hoist trolley, with manual or motorized rotation.

- CRANE WITH 360° MANUAL OR ELECTRIC ROTATION
When continuous rotation is required, the crane is mounted on a steel column. The boom rotation can be manual, with a cantilevered boom, or electric, with a manual or electric trolley.

- CRANE WITH LIMITED ROTATION
For special needs, the electric slewing jib crane may have a limited range of action.

How do you choose the HOIST for the jib crane?

The jib crane's hoist can be equipped with a manual or electric trolley. If you have a duct crane, the hoist trolley can only be manual.
The hoist can have one or two chain sections. The chain hoist connected to the crane arm can have one or two lifting speeds. The two-speed model allows for more precise and careful lifting, an ideal solution when handling particularly fragile loads. Travel along the arm can be manual or electric. This choice depends on the intended use of the lifting and handling system. The trolley travel can also be either one or two speeds.
